Other Information

The old Indian 'talking chief' eyed the two government officials sent to interview him.

"Chief," one began, "you have observed the white man for many generations, you have seen his wars and his products; you have seen all his progress - and all his problems that come with it."

The chief nodded.

The official continued, "Considering recent events, in your opinion, where has the white man gone wrong?"

The chief calmly replied: "When the white man came to our lands as the first 'boat people', the many Indigenous Red Nations and Peoples got along very well and had much good international trade and relations. There was no 'debt' and were no 'taxes' - everyone helped out their communities."

The chief continued, "There were 100 million Buffalo, 100 million Elk, Deer, and Antelope. Indian men hunted and fished all the time. Men, and especially women, did much good work, raised kids well, and all participated in true democracy decision-making."

The chief then added, "White man thought he could improve system like that?"
